The first JetBlue flight from New York’s JFK airport to Liberia (just 24 miles from Las Catalinas) began yesterday. They are offering fares as low as $119 each way – quite a deal. It appears the flight is currently operating 4 days a week. Checking on their website, it looks like the low fare is indeed available on some travel days, but not all.
New Flight from Twin Cities to Liberia
Delta has just announced that it will begin direct flights to Liberia (24 miles from Las Catalinas) from Minneapolis – St. Paul in January. The flights will be weekly, on Saturdays. This is great news and more evidence that the new Liberia airport terminal is attracting more and more flight options. Excellent!

Las Catalinas’ Special Guanacaste Visitor’s Guide
August 26, 2010 – A work in progress…
Introduction
I’m writing this idiosyncratic guide for friends who are planning to visit the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica near Las Catalinas. Once we have the first buildings finished at Las Catalinas and we are up and running my recommendations will be greatly simplified! But in the meantime here is some guidance. This is meant to be just a starting point for this document, we will continue to develop it and would love to have your suggestions! And you really should be in touch with us as you plan your trip so we can help! [Read more...]
Join us in Las Catalinas this summer
This summer, we intend to host a few groups of prospective buyers at Las Catalinas. If you’d like to be a part of one of these visits, please contact us for details about dates and accommodations.
On a typical visit, we’ll spend two days in and around our emerging beach town. There are usually a few things planned — hiking on our new trails, inspecting the construction of our first homes, swimming or stand-up paddle boarding at Playa Danta, enjoying wonderful food and fellowship — and, as we have on every trip, visitors will likely encounter some unplanned surprises.
From the United States, the easiest way to reach Las Catalinas is by flying into Liberia (direct flights from Miami, Atlanta, and Houston are all about 3 hours). From there, we’ll pick you up and shuttle you to our destination, 45 minutes away. While at Las Catalinas, you’ll be our guest. If you’d like to stay longer in Costa Rica, we’d be happy to help you plan the rest of your trip.
If you’re interested in joining us, please contact a member of our sales team to learn more.
Guanacaste Airport Arrivals Way Up!
From the Tico Times: “The number of tourists who landed in January and February at the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, a short drive from popular beaches in Costa Rica’s northern Pacific province of Guanacaste, was up more than 24 percent from the same span in 2009, according to the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT).
The Liberia airport saw 50,427 arrivals in the first two months of the year, up from 40,564 in the same period last year.”
That is pretty strong!
